Popis: | The effects of HCG, LH, FSH, prolactin, prolactin plus FSH, and testosterone on zinc-65 uptake and organ weights were investigated in intact male hooded rats. HCG increased while FSH decreased zinc-65 uptake of reproductive and nonreproductive structures. HCG also increased weights of accessory reproductive organs. FSH plus prolactin yielded results similar to those obtained with FSH only, while prolactin alone had no effect on zinc-65 uptake. The effect of LH was to lower weights and increase zinc-65 uptake per gm of tissue in the accessory reproductive structures. Increasing the dose of testosterone 20-fold raised the weights and zinc-65 uptake of the accessory reproductive structures, but doubling the dose caused no further increase. |
