Popis: | A firma anglo-americana Maxwell, Wright & Co. teve posição de destaque nas rotas atlânticas de comércio a partir da cidade do Rio de Janeiro em meados do século XIX. Seus ramos de atividade eram os mais variados, mas, acima de tudo, a empresa atuou no comércio cafeeiro para os portos dos Estados Unidos da América. Nos anos 1840, a firma era a principal exportadora de café da praça carioca e de todo o Império. O presente trabalho visa a analisar a inserção dessa empresa estrangeira na economia brasileira das três primeiras décadas do Brasil independente. #HistóriaDeEmpresas The Anglo-American firm Maxwell, Wright & Co. had a prominent po-sition in the Atlantic trade routes from the city of Rio de Janeiro during the mid-1800s. Its business branches were varied, although the company main-ly operated in coffee trading toward U.S. ports. In the 1840s, the firm was the main coffee exporter in Rio de Janeiro and the whole Brazilian Empire. This work aims to study the insertion of this foreign company in the Brazilian economy during the first three decades of independent Brazil. |
