Popis: | Regeneration strategies and transport improvement in a deprived area: what can be learnt from Northern France? Regional Studies. This paper reports on a case study in an ex-coal-mining area in northern France that faces different socio-economic problems along with a limited public transportation system. Over the last decades it has undergone several regeneration strategies. The study analyses transport behaviour, the impact of major potential regeneration projects and residents’ needs. The research is based on qualitative analysis and focuses on those population groups with limited transportation availability or at risk of social exclusion. The results show that many different transport policy measures are needed in order to achieve successful regeneration. |
