Popis: | OBJECTIVES To study the fetal outcome with the use of McDonald cerclage and total cervical occlusion in women with recurrent mid-trimester miscarriages or preterm deliveries, as well as complications of total cervical occlusion in the women. METHODS Prospective descriptive observational study on patients with two or more mid-trimester miscarriages, deliveries before 36 weeks, or patients who have experienced failure of transvaginal cerclage. RESULTS Twenty-six women were studied. Of these, 92% delivered at term. Two women delivered at 33 and 35 weeks, respectively. There was one neonatal death. Take home baby rate was 96.2%. There was no serious maternal morbidity among the patients. CONCLUSION The addition of external cervical OS occlusion to McDonald cerclage could improve fetal outcome in women with recurrent mid-trimester miscarriages and preterm deliveries. |
