Popis:	We studied a patient with cataplexy secondary to a surgical lesion that involved the perichiasmal hypothalamus. We believe that this lesion interfered with the hypothalamic mechanism for timing sleep and wakefulness, whereas the pontine mechanism for generating sleep cycles remained relatively intact.
