World distribution. Argentina and Chile. Chilean distribution. From Coquimbo to Los Lagos region (Fig. 65). Altitudinal range. From coastal to highland ecosystems (5– 3,000 m.a.s.l.). Biology and notes. Palpada elegans is a generalist species associated with disturbed and native ecosystems. According to Smith-Ramírez et al. (2005) P. elegans visits flowers of A. luma, A. altenifolia, E. cordifolia, M. ovata var. ovata, M. planipes, Rhaphithamnus spinosus (Juss.) Moldenke and T. stipularis (Smith-Ramírez et al., 2005). Others records have been made it visiting Achillea millfolium L. (Ricardo Huenuanca, CSP record); Baccharis sp. (Matías Cortés, CSP record); Haplopappus foliosus (Hook. & Arn.) Hook. & Arn. (Tabatha Carrera, CSP records) and Mentha sp. (Tity Rodríguez, CSP record), Conservation status. LC; EOO = 161,994 km 2; AOO = 104 km 2, 24 subpopulations and 25 localities.
