Popis: Ten perennial ryegrass genotypes were tested for response to water deficiency in greenhouse under controlled conditions. Four genotypes with contrasting response to drought were selected for RNAseq transcriptomic analysis. In total, we found 5321 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) during drought but only 232 DEGs were shared across all genotypes. We could identify 7 genes with contrasting expression profiles in two tolerant genotypes compared to the sensitive genotypes. Most of these genes code for regulatory proteins that can be utilized for future selection strategies in breeding material for enhanced drought tolerance.
