Department of Chemistry, University of Calicut, Kerala-673 635 Manuscript received 17 May 1994,accepted 25 November 1994 A new series of heterocyclic azo compounds have been synthesised by coupling diazotised 2-aminothiazol with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds-acetylacetone, benzoylacetone, trifluoroacetylacetone, thenoyltrifluoroactone, methyl acetoacetate and acetoacetailide. The compounds are exist in the azo-enol tauomeric form. Neutral complexes of these ligands with CoIINiII, CuIIand ZnII havebeen synthesised and characterised. Monobasic tridentate coordination of the ligands is established. |
