Popis: | The mechanical properties of a series of ceramic-metal composites have been evaluated to determine their potential as implant materials. Hot pressing procedures were developed for the preparation of wire reinforced, calcium-aluminate matrix composites. Hot pressed composites containing 5% tungsten fiber were found to exhibit flexural strength equivalent to that of bone, and approximately ten times that of the unreinforced ceramic. |
