The use of intra-arterial heparin by various methods experimentally is described. Each of these methods has been used in clinical vascular surgery. “Regional heparinization” could not be obtained. It is suggested that intra-arterial heparin, as used in arterial surgery, must be expected to produce a systemic response. The dangers inherent in its use as such must be considered. |
