Popis: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative pathology that affects the basal ganglia, resulting in motor signs and symptoms such as bradykinesia, tremor, rigidity, and postural instability in the affected individual. Due to their ability to unite cognitive and motor skills during gameplay, exergames have played an important role in the rehabilitation of Parkinson's disease. The need for personalized games necessitates the use of serious games, which are video games with serious goals, despite their interactivity and the initial goal of promoting entertainment. Given that the motor signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease can affect upper limb skills (such as writing, manipulating, reaching, and grasping) and the importance of upper limb skills and manual dexterity in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADL's), the need for serious games focused on the functional needs of patients with regard to manual dexterity becomes clear. In this regard, the study in question seeks to develop and implement an evaluation and intervention protocol through a serious game aimed at manual function rehabilitation, with the goal of improving functionality in Parkinson's disease patients.
