Popis: | An unusual case of long survival after multiple primary gastrointestinal malignancies is reported. A 30-year-old woman developed a carcinoma of the cardiac region of her stomach with local extension to the oesophagus; 11 years following limited resection she is alive and well. During the intervening period she developed three separate predominantly poorly differentiated cancers of the colon and another in the rectum. Lymph node metastases were present in association with the first colonic carcinoma; local involvement of the uterus and pericolic veins was observed with the rectal tumor Factors known to influence the prognosis of gastric and colonic carcinomas are briefly reviewed. |
