The resonant-ultrasound microscopy is discussed for measuring elastic-constant distribution over a solid's surface. An oscillating electric field is applied to a rectangular-parallelepiped oscillator of langasite crystal by a sorrounding solenoid coil. This generates and detects the vibrations of the crystal without electrodes and wires. An accurate resonance-frequency measurement is provided by the isolated langasite crystal.
