Popis: | Prototype strains of human adenoviruses types 1–3, 5–8 do not multiply in GMK cells and could not be adapted to them during several blind passages. Simian adenoviruses SA7(C8), SA7(B105), SV32, and SV38 can serve as helpers for replication of human adenoviruses in this system. Simultaneous infection of GMK cells with human and simian adenoviruses leads to the replication of both viruses. As a result of phenotypic mixing homologous and heterologous antigenic determinants are incorporated in the capsid of most virions. In the virus yield obtained after mixed infection, the appearance of virions with human adenovirus capsids capable of replicating in GMK cells was demonstrated. Such virions seem to be formed as a result of “hybridization” of original adenoviruses. |
