Popis: | Oesophageal apoplexy or intramural haematoma of the oesophagus (IHE) is a rare condition with a pattern of presentation that can mimic sinister pathologies. Diagnosis requires a high index of suspicion, and the exclusion of an oesophageal perforation or oesophageal malignancy is important. Investigations include computer topography (CT) and contrast swallow studies as well as a gastroscopy. Management is mainly supportive with resolution of symptoms typically occurring rapidly. We present two cases of this rare condition, with accompanying images. |
