The basic unit of administration in India is district administration body. The common people come on connection with the administrative system through the direct contact with this district administration body. Later after independence the role of district administration has got some change .it gave more emphasis on developmental administration and in 1973 the panchayat raj institution act has come and district is divided into three deferent levels of panchayat And the district collector has become a controlling or supervising authority. The role of district collector includes revenue functions, developmental functions and maintenance of law and order. Apart from this the activities initiated in Calicut district between the year 2015 to 2017 shows what else a collector can do. |
