Popis: | Chickens restrained in the presence of an experimenter remained immobile significantly longer than those separated from the experimenter by a plywood barrier. Moreover, experimenter proximity as well as his visual orientation to the chicken were found appreciably to affect the duration of immobility in response to manual restraint. It was concluded that the experimenter's eyes were of primary importance in sustaining the immobility episode, and the results were interpreted in terms of the fear hypothesis of animal hypnosis and predator-prey relationships. |
