Popis: | Density gradient columns have been used to determine the density of single particles of enamel, sampled by an acid etching technique previously described ( Weatherell , Weidmann and Hamm , 1966). The densities of enamel particles removed from the surfaces of various types of teeth and taken in contiguous series throughout the depth of the tissue have been measured. Surface particles varied in density from 2.84 to 3.00 g/ml, depending on the type of tooth and the area from which they were sampled. In all teeth the density of enamel decreased from the surface to the amelodentinal junction within a range from about 3.00 to 2.84 g/ml; the range of density varied with the type of tooth and between individual teeth of the same type. |
