Popis: Education is a science that aims at knowledge and its aspects, relating to other areas of knowledge. Among the processes studied are the cognitive ones, closely related to learning and human development. The COVID-19 pandemic and social isolation as a preventive measure against contamination have had major impacts at collective and individual levels. Among the individual ones, cognitive impairments can be highlighted, which cover two aspects: those caused by the virus infection and those caused by the overload generated in social isolation. From this perspective, the study was justified by the need for reflections on the subject and aimed to analyze the cognitive impairments caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, the methodology used in this study is bibliographical research of an exploratory and descriptive nature. The research was carried out in a virtual environment, in reliable databases such as Scielo, with scientific articles and also includes virtual environments for studies and research in medicine, psychology and education, with the descriptors pandemic, cognitive processes and damage. After analyzing the content included in the research, the resulting textual production is divided into three topics: Education and cognition; Education, cognitive development and learning; and The COVID-19 pandemic and cognitive impairments. The impressions and conclusions are in the final considerations.
