Popis: | International audience; This article aims to examine the effects of a large-scale planning project. It is focused on the little-known Metropole jardin Project, which was developed in the western center of France in the late 1960s and 1970’s. A period in regional planning history which welcomed landscape architecture, and in which new actors entered the scene, and new methods and tools were created to involve communities in the development of landscapes. As for methodology, field visits enable us to explore this project, its achievements and the influence it may have had on the development of the territory as it appears today. The contrasting results are indicative of the particularities of French-style spatial planning, characterized by the gap that exists today between the effectiveness of major territorial guidelines and the fragmentation of real productions. Therefore the critical approach here is a matter of interpretation. |
