Popis: Acanthocephala have traditionally been thought to be more closely aligned with Cestoda. However, some recent morphological evidence would indicate similarities to nematodes. We have utilized bodywall preparations of Acanthocephala to examine the effects of anthelmintic compounds on spontaneous potential generation. Several parameters derived from our measurements indicate that three of these anthelmintics have pronounced effects on acanthocephalan potentials. We conclude that with respect to the bodywall neuro-muscular system, Acanthocephala are not only morphologically but functionally similar to nematodes such as Ascaris suum
