Popis: | Uncomplicated pregnancy in a 27-year-old with rheumatic heart-disease and a Starr-Edwards mitral-valve prosthesis is reported. During the pregnancy the patient took warfarin sodium for 36 weeks and switched to heparin 18 days before delivery. A normal girl was born with a prothrombin-time of 16.2 seconds (control 13.5). Successful pregnancy and delivery in patients with mitral-valve prosthesis is possible when careful control of anticoagulation is maintained. |
