Popis: The need to match patient and treatment has been recognized from the beginning of psychotherapy. As early as 1919, Freud introduced psychoanalytic psychotherapy as an alternative to classical analysis on the recognition that the more ratified approach lacked universal applicability and that many patients did not possess the requisite psychological mindedness (Liff, 1992). He referred the majority of so-called unanalyzable patients for a psychotherapy based on direct suggestion.
