Popis: | Serial assessment of dilatation and effacement of the cervix was carried out in 259 patients. In 12 per cent of patients with a single pregnancy either the internal os admitted one finger or the cervix was effaced before the thirty-fourth week. Spontaneous premature labor occurred in 8 out of 29 (28 per cent) patients with cervical changes before the thirty-fourth week, and in only 1 of 240 patients without early cervical changes. When external tocography was used in patients with early cervical dilatation the prediction of premature labor was accurate. |
