STARTPAGE=125;ENDPAGE=155;TITLE=The dynamics of marginalized youth
Popis: This chapter focuses specifically on the experience of not in education, employment, or training (NEETs) in England. It describes the education, labour market and social policy context that affect young people in England. The chapter describes data and the methodology used in the analysis, in particular highlighting how the key variables used to explain differences in NEET risks were derived from the data. It uses experiences of being NEET to predict various financial and personal life outcomes at the age of 25. University degrees are more specialized again, typically in one or two subject areas, and many are work-focused and vocational, in the sense that graduates from certain subject end up working in a small number of occupations.
