More stringent anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws in the US, Europe and PR China as well as the current political anti-corruption-campaign in China force Western globally active companies to implement Code of Conducts at their subsidiaries worldwide – thus also in China. There are mixed results of existing academic research on the impact of Codes of Conduct regarding ethical behaviour of the employees in connection with these Codes. The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the motivation and intention of employees to accept and act according to a local Code of Conduct. This research is conducted in a cross-cultural setting (PR China, Germany, Austria) by taking certain Chinese situational factors (Guanxi Orientation, Supervisor-Subordinate Guanxi) as well individual factors (Moral Disengagement) into account. Furthermore, the purpose of this study is to test whether gender is an important factor influencing intention of individuals regarding a positive ethical behaviour. |
