NaY zeolites, ion-exchanged by Ni 2+ , are investigated by xenon adsorption and by 129 Xe NMR. Sulfided and nonsulfided samples are compared. In addition sulfided samples are characterized by thiophene hydrodesulfurization (HDS). The nickel species are mainly located inside the zeolitic structure in both types of sample. The small nickel sulfide clusters are efficient thiophene HDS catalysts. Some aspects of the models used to calculate supercage diameters from 129 Xe-NMR chemical shifts are discussed. |
