Popis: IN their recent research editorial, Tuppurainen and Oura (2014) rightly warned us of the increasing threat of lumpy skin disease (LSD) to the European cattle population. In the first half of the 20th century, LSD was only reported in southern Africa. In the 1960s and 1970s it appeared in east and west Africa, where it became endemic. LSD spread to the Middle East in the 1980s where it has been reported sporadically ever since. It is surely now at the point of being classified as endemic in that region.
