Popis: | Nabumetone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent which is absorbed well and rapidly from the gastrointestinal tract and has an elimination half-life of approximately 27 hours. Several controlled, comparative clinical trials have shown the effectiveness of nabumetone in the treatment of rheumatic diseases (Brobyn 1987; Caruso 1985; Ginsberg & Famaey 1982; Verbruggen & Pintens 1985). Clinical studies have demonstrated that a single night-time dose of 19 is effective and well tolerated in the treatment of osteoarthritis (Ginsberg & Famaey 1982; Verbruggen & Pintens 1985). However, for the management of patients with acute articular symptoms a common therapeutic approach is to control the pain first before treating the underlying inflammation. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the onset of analgesic effect of nabumetone compared with that of naproxen in patients with acute exacerbations of osteoarthritis during the first days of therapy. |
