Popis: This paper presents some of the main aspects of the Directive 2011/24/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare, commonly known as the Patients’ Rights Directive, and as well treats the problematic exclusion of the long-term services from its scope. This Directive represents the latest EU initiative in regard to the European Health Care and the Single Market, but it is observed that the exclusion made by the Member States might lead to conclusions that the PRD is biased against the chronically ill and patients seeking long-term care, especially in an ageing Europe background that emerges in nowadays society.
