Popis: | The present study has shown that conditioning stimuli applied to septum, hippocampus or mamillary body result in an attenuation of the late components of potentials recorded from the anterior nuclei of the thalamus. Hippocampal and septal conditioning stimuli also attenuate responses recorded from the cingulate gyrus but have little effect on the short latency response produced by mamillary body stimulation. Facilitation of either short or long latency responses was not observed. In general these results suggest that the limbic projections to the anterior thalamic nuclei can alter the excitability of this nuclear group and therefore may have an indirect effect upon cortical excitability. |
