Popis: | Dislocation pinning processes have been examined by studying strain-ageing effects in a range of γ-TiAl alloys. The yield stress increase after static strain ageing is shown to depend on the prior strain imposed before the ageing step and the time and temperature of ageing, as well as on the chemical composition of the material considered. For carbon-containing alloys very strong ageing effects are seen, stronger for alloys and states containing more carbon in solution. Similar ageing effects are produced in the absence of carbon and appear to be caused by oxygen in solid solution. In a high-purity alloy containing little interstitial impurities, weak ageing effects are still seen, which do not depend on the microstructural state of the material, and are believed to be caused by slight chemical or structural changes near the cores of the dislocation present. |
