Popis: Healthcare reform has had a profound effect on the uninsured patient population because of a declining number of providers willing to accept government health subsidy program payments and increased difficulty accessing care. If the uninsured manage to find a provider, they face difficulty paying for recommended medications and treatments. Healthcare reform also changed the way healthcare leaders focus on providing care and treatment for the uninsured population. As healthcare reform has evolved, outcome measures including the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Services (HCAHPS) have been developed to support the assessment of healthcare organizations across the nation. The HCAHPS survey has been utilized to grade hospitals on patient perception of care and quality, and these ratings account for 30 percent of the reimbursement methodology currently in use by Medicare and other insurance providers.
