Popis: The paper describes the chemical and radiochemical composition of groundwater, soil contamination with radionuclides and geological-hydrogeological structure in the area of Shelter Object (SO) and Chernobyl NPP location. The possible sources of groundwater contamination with radionuclides and other type of contaminants are considered. The conclusion was made about two existing principle sources of groundwater technogenous contamination in the area of SO location. They are: (1) superficial soil layer which was highly contaminated during the accident at Chernobyl NPP and then buried under thick layer of technogenous deposits (in the course of accident consequences liquidation); (2) probable income of SO internal waters to geological environment.
