Popis: Terminological literacy follows functional literacy, being an important premise for competence development. Defined as “the ability to operate coherently with scientific terms from various domains, to understand and to use them in communication”, terminological literacy is increasingly crucial for the fulfilment of various acts of communication outside the academic sphere. Other arguments in favor of promoting terminological literacy in school are: it increases and extends learning capacity; it constitutes a support on which professional training is edified; it develops students' skills for term definition and explanation.
