The technical development usually changes the parameters and offers new solutions, with economic and political considerations following, but there is also a reverse scheme possible - the strong political will to change the geo-economic status can stimulate technical progress and draw up new logistics schemes. The different combination of the three groups of factors explains historically the rise and decline of major logistics centres located along and intersecting major trade routes.
