Popis:	Quantitative differential thermal analysis has been used to analyze mine and foundry dust samples varying in size from 40 to 2 mg. As little as 1% quartz has been determined in 2-mg samples by use of a specially modified microholder. Sandwiching techniques permit the analysis of the same amount of quartz in 40-mg samples with a standard 300-mg powder holder. The effects of particle size variation and control of this variable are discussed. Preliminary experimentation indicates that the micro method may be applicable to the quantitative analysis of some asbestos minerals.
