Popis: | THE incidence of poliomyelitis in New Jersey has varied widely over nearly half a century. In 1916 more than 4000 cases were reported within the State, with a death rate of 40.3 per 100,000. Other major epidemics occurred in 1931, 1945 and 1949. On the other extreme, there have been twelve years since 1916 in which attack rates of 2.0 per 100,000 and lower were recorded, associated with a death rate of 0.5 and lower.
