Homo and copolymerization of N-(phenylamino )maleimide Synthesis and characterization

Sukhadia University, Udaipur-313 001, Rajasthan, India E-mail : hiranbl@rediffmail.com Manuscript received 27 February 2007, revised 7 August 2007, accepted 23 August 2007 Free radical homopolymerization of N-(phenylamino)maleimide (N-PAMI) and copolymerization with methyl methacrylate (MMA) were performed at 65 °Cwith AIBN as initiator in THF. The molecular weights of polymers were determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Resulting polymers were characterized by density measurement, intrinsic viscosity, solubility, FT-IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. The thermal behavior of polymers was determined by TGA. Homo polymer has better thermal stability.
