Popis: | The majority of autoantibodies to nuclear and other intracellular antigens have been shown to react with specific antigens which in the native state are components of subcellular particles (for review see [1]). These subcellular particles frequently comprise aggregates of several different proteins, with or without different species of RNA. Specific immunoprecipitation using a defined autoantibody, therefore results in the precipitation of not only the target antigen reacting with antibody but also other molecular components complexed with the target antigen. In this manner, the entire molecular composition of certain intracellular particles can be elucidated, although the autoantibody is reactive only with one component of the particle. |
