| Popis: | Thank you for the invitation to respond to the valuable comments from Dr. Yang regarding our article entitled “Adenocarcinoma of the anterior tongue: a case report”. The goal of our case report was to highlight the rarity of adenocarcinoma occurring in the anterior tongue. In addition, we also focused and elaborated on the management on this entity which is primarily surgical. Of the case reports that were cited in our article, the adenocarcinomas identified were pathologically considered “tubular adenocarcinoma” [1], “papillary adenocarcinoma of minor salivary gland” [2] and “polymorphous lowgrade adenocarcinoma.” [3] These previously reported cases cannot be further categorized by us based on the World Health Organization classification as we are not aware of the specific pathological features of these specimens. While it would have been of interest to further sub-categorize the adenocarcinoma in our reported case as was suggested in the Comment, our pathology department did not specify the subtype and further analysis is not available. Despite this, the specific subtype of the adenocarcinoma does not have significant impact on the treatment. Thank you again for your comments. |
