The present study aims to analyze whether the stadiums built for the 2014 FIFA World Cup left a positive or negative legacy in the host cities and states where they are located. The study conducted has an exploratory nature. In terms of the technical procedures adopted, it is characterized as a survey. The data analysis was carried out through descriptive statistics. It was found that seven stadiums from the 2014 World Cup have appropriate utilization, two stadiums were classified as questionable, with transitional situations that may evolve into a positive or negative legacy, and three stadiums were classified as inadequately utilized, with restricted use and being financially unsustainable, representing a negative legacy and serving as white elephants. It can be concluded that, regarding the stadiums, the legacy left by the FIFA World Cup presents a more positive than negative balance, despite the existence of three white elephants. |
