Popis: Improper planning of road network in the major cities has been creating continuous problems related to road safety, accessibility, connectivity and mobility. Transportation planning using specific integrated systems like Geographical Information Systems (GIS) gives more desirable results. Quantification of different connectivity indicators is the main intention of this work. Taking Hyderabad as an example, this study tried to illustrate the relevance of GIS in analysing the street structure connectivity. The road network connectivity in the city is evaluated using various indicators of connectivity. A higher value of the connectivity indicators means that the road network is connected much better. Based on the results obtained, the central zone has higher and the northern zone has lower connectivity. A significantly acceptable value of the connectivity indicators were observed at the end of the study. This study also finds the integration of GIS for evaluating level of connectivity on urban road networks is highly efficacious.
