Community Colleges and the Educational Needs of Older Adults

Popis:	In recent months, higher education has directed its attention to the educational needs of our nation's more than 21 million senior citizens. However, in their efforts to assist this group, community colleges have become involved in direct service functions conventionally assumed by social service agencies and are performing activities which may pose a threat to the educational function of postsecondary education. This article suggests that community colleges concentrate their energy and resources to meet the significant educational needs of older adults and identifies several areas which deserve greater consideration.
