The data was collected from 8 orchard blocks, each located on a different farm and separated by distances of at least four kilometres. All farms were surveyed across two years. A total of 5732 insects were observed, 2490 in the 2014 season and 3242 in the 2015 season. Insects from six orders were recorded. The most abundant species were honey bees (Apis mellifera) (n= 4865; 84.9%) followed by Australian Brown Blow Flies (Calliphora stygia) (n= 330; 5.8%) and Flower Longhorn Beetles (Zorion guttigerum) (n= 330; 5.3%). Others insects represented 4.1% of individuals observed (n=236). |
