Innovation in biomedical and pharmaceutical industry in a light of globalization of the market within the region

Popis: The aim of this paper is to illustrate the impact of globalization on innovation in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industry with a focus on examples of importance for the development of the region and to point to a direct impact on the development of the healthcare industry. The secondary objective is reflected in the benefit view through technology transfer (horizontal and vertical), but also through the strengthening of the educational corpus (the work of scientific institutions and faculties in contact with this type of research). Innovative sector in these industries is the fastest growing sector globally observed in the context of 3 key parameters: the amount of money invested in the field of research and development, the number of patents per year, and the geographical dispersion of the testing centers. The parameter essential for research is the number of clinical trials of drugs, since they are the way to bring innovation (a new drug) to the market (R & D process). In this paper we have shown the influence of globalization on the "acceleration" of the process of bringing innovations to the market, which is primarily reflected in the context of more accessible financing and technological transfer. Innovations in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries are divided into two large groups: medicines and medical devices, and in this paper the context of research and development of drugs is taken into account due to its complexity. Including examples from the countries of the region, it is shown that through a more efficient process, as well as the provision of regulations that foster innovation, a good result could be achieved in the number of innovations or the number of clinical trials of drugs that represent the way to bring innovation to the market.This paper is of importance for the Ministry of Health, educational institutions, scientific institutes, students and professionals dealing with these problems.
