Popis: | Man has demonstrated his ability to withstand environmental pressures up to 500 psia. In so doing he comes closer to making routine excursions on the Continental Shelf 1000 feet beneath the sea. In view of the extremely limited information available on the behavior of aerosols under high pressures, a series of studies was undertaken to evaluate potential problems. One phase of this investigation has dealt with the generation of both solid and liquid aerosols at high pressures. Initial results have yielded evidence of a general increase in particulate diameter with increasing pressure from the sources evaluated. Results of both solid and liquid aerosol experiments are presented. |
