Popis: | To assess the punishing nature of 3-hr exposures to heat (95°F), rats were tested in paradigms for conditioned taste aversions, conditioned taste preferences, conditioned odor aversions, and conditioned avoidance. Learning was found only with conditioned avoidance: rats tended to stay out of a shuttle box compartment that had been associated with heat. Although its punishing consequences occur in the internal milieu, the noxious effects of heat appear to be referred to the external milieu. |
