Popis: | Oral dicophane rapidly reduced the plasma-bilirubin of a boy with familial, unconjugated non-haemolytic jaundice, who had previously shown a response to phenobarbitone. For the seven months since treatment with dicophane was stopped his plasma-bilirubin level has remained low. This is attributable to slow elimination of the drug from body-fat. In rats dicophane increases hepatic glucuronyl-transferase. Dicophane may be a useful treatment for certain rare types of unconjugated jaundice in which this enzyme is reduced. |
