This paper discusses one of the so-called Manfred Bibles,today in the manuscript collections of Turin, BibliotecaNazionale Universitaria, focusing particular attention onthe notes exhibited on its margins. These notes, writtenby Lupus de Spechio, adviser of King Alfonso of Aragona,provide new ideas about the history of the manuscript.The research intends to shed light on its realization, in thethirteenth century in a Neapolitan workshop, on its stayat the court during the Angevine and Aragonese perioduntil its migration to the library of Domenico Della Rovere,powerful member of the Papal court in the fifteenthcentury, and then in the Turin library together with themanuscript collection of the cardinal. |
